Along this urban stretch bordering the underground railway lines, the mural features drawings created by local residents and users of the neighborhood.
Developed using the principle of the “exquisite corpse,” the drawings draw on vegetal, animal, and aquatic imaginaries. Combined, they give rise to fantastical hybrid creatures unfolding along a continuous, serpent-like surface.
From this collaborative process emerges, symbolically, an invasion of nature into the urban fabric.
With a playful undertone, the mural evokes a return to the wild. Its motif alludes to the jungle through its color palette, and to snakeskin through its pattern. It guides passersby along this narrow passage while acting as a visual beacon from the surrounding streets. Up close, it reveals a dense and layered imaginary world.
The mural is rooted in the new urban development shaped by the Promenade Verte project, an open space for play, encounters, and shared use. It contributes to forging a strong identity for both the site and the wider Promenade Verte initiative.
The pattern and tile design were developed by Atelier Blink in collaboration with Nonpareil. The installation was carried out by a social reintegration construction company based in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode.
