As part of Mons 2015, Atelier Blink created L’île aux enfants, a playful three-week installation in the Jardins du Beffroi, specially designed for families and children. Set apart from the bustle of the city, the site was transformed into a lively play space where imagination, movement, and joyful exploration could unfold.
The installation included giant caterpillar-shaped structures and swings suspended from trees, activating the park’s landscape and inviting children to discover playful forms, engage physically with the environment, and explore the site with curiosity and delight.
In a spirit of creative reuse, some of the balloons from the Ballons installation on the Grand-Place were incorporated into this event, extending their life and their role in the festive journey of Mons 2015.
Atelier Blink oversaw the entire process, from concept and design development to production supervision and on-site installation, creating a coherent and imaginative spatial experience.
By reimagining the public garden as an urban space open to play and discovery, L’île aux enfants offered a temporary universe blending art, architecture, and play, allowing participants of all ages to interact, imagine, and share joyful moments.
